Scarsdale resident and Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) Board member Linda Plattus hosted her Annual Luncheon, along with Board members Michele Brettschneider, Sarah Kayle, Nina Ross, and Suzanne Yearley, for the WJCS Have a Heart for the Holidays Gift Drive on November 6. Luncheon guest brought toys, games, and gift cards that will be distributed to WJCS clients who live in under-resourced communities. For many of these families in need, these toys will be the only gift they are able to give their children this season.
“It is heartwarming to see Westchester residents spread holiday cheer to their neighbors year after year after year,” said WJCS CEO Seth Diamond. “Many families are struggling financially. We are grateful to our Board members and donors who ensure that we can add joy to our clients’ lives at this important time of the year.”
Guests heard from Diamond, Jessica Piecyk, Assistant Executive Director of Health & Healing Services, Jewish Programs and Managing Director of Early Childhood Programs at WJCS, Carolyn Murphy, Director of WJCS Children’s Community-Based Mental Health Services, and Brenda Haas, Coordinator of WJCS’s Guiding Parents Through Services program, about the many ways the agency helps parents and children overcome mental health, trauma, academic, and spiritual challenges.
The floral centerpieces were donated by House of Flowers in Mamaroneck, and cookies and cakes were donated by Martine’s Fine Bake Shop in Scarsdale.
