The WJCS Crime Victims Advocacy Support Services Program (CVASSP) provides crime victims and survivors assistance with supportive services, giving them the tools they need to make informed decisions. We offer advocacy services and trauma-informed therapeutic services to every CVASSP client.
Who We Serve
We provide services to victims and survivors of crimes, including:
- People impacted by gun violence
- Children who are victims of sexual abuse
- Sexual assault
- Domestic violence
- Child abuse
- Elder abuse
- LGBTQ+ crimes
- Violent crime
- DUI crashes
- Adults who were sexually assaulted as children
- Hate/bias crimes
Services We Provide
- We provide services to Westchester County residents who have been victims of crime, regardless of whether or not a police report has been filed.
- Crisis intervention
- Emotional support and short-term crisis counseling
- Accompaniment to hospitals, police, and courts
- Advocacy with police, courts, District Attorney, and other area service providers
- Information and follow-up on case status in Criminal and Family Courts, as needed
- Referrals to and help with arrangements for temporary housing and domestic violence shelters
- Assistance in filing a claim with the NY State Office of Victim Services for reimbursement of medical and counseling costs, lost wages, and funeral expenses, etc.
- Referral to partner agencies
- Safety planning
- Inform victims of their rights and options
Meeting with Clients
We are able to meet clients where they are. Depending on where a client lives, an advocate will meet with the client in one of our clinics, or a preferred location near their home. CVASSP will also assist in transportation payment, if needed.
