The Bar and Bat Mitzvah Project has become a popular custom in which Jewish children, in advance of their Bar and Bat Mitzvah, choose a special Mitzvah (commandment) to fulfill to celebrate this important milestone. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to others and learn the importance and fulfilling feeling of giving and helping others.
At WJCS, we provide numerous types of meaningful Bar and Bat Mitzvah projects. We aim to customize the project so it is aligned with a child’s interest. Because WJCS serves so many different populations, from Holocaust survivors and the LGBTQ+ community to children who are on the autism spectrum and disabled adults, we have a wide range of opportunities from which families can choose.
Some of the WJCS Bar and Bat Mitzvah projects have included:
- A young fundraiser organized his friends to purchase sensory kits and gadgets for individuals on the Autism spectrum.
- A young fundraiser invited friends to contribute to the WJCS Annual Have a Heart for the Holiday Toy Drive.
- A Bar Mitzvah family contributed money to paint and renovate the meeting room for the participants at the WJCS Wiener Academy for Young Women.
- A young Bat Mitzvah sold safely prepared baked goods to family and friends to raise necessary COVID funds.
Please contact us about finding the appropriate Bar or Bat Mitzvah Project for your child. Every individual can make a difference.
